Reduction in Accidents From 2001 to 2005 our preventable injury frequency rate decreased by nearly 60%. Each year Chandler Concrete establishes goals for preventable injuries, truck rollovers, lost-time injuries, preventable vehicle incidents, Safety Topic Talks and Insurance Modification Factor. We distribute monthly Safety Scorecards with injury and vehicle incident information that show the month and YTD safety performance for every location. Safety Alerts are distributed across the company whenever we experience a significant incident that results in serious injury or considerable damage to property/equipment. The Alerts keep everyone aware of the facts involved and gives suggestions for others to avoid a similar incident. They also heighten overall awareness to working and driving safely. |

Safety Training All new employees are given safety specific training as part of their initial orientation to the company. Every employee is required to attend an annual safety training meeting where a variety of safety topics are presented and discussed. Every employee is issued an Employee Handbook which outlines our safety policies, practices and programs. We publish an employee newsletter every quarter and there is a specific section in each edition that deals with employee safety and health topics and issues. The articles cover a variety of topics that include workplace safety as well as health and safety tips for activities away from work. Each location holds a weekly Safety Topic Talk, brief but informative, and designed to generate discussion and heighten overall safety awareness. |
